We are often so blinded by the temporary things of this life that we fail to stop and reflect on eternal realities—like heaven and hell. When it comes to the topic of hell, many people get uncomfortable, as if the idea of eternal judgment is somehow inconsistent with the love of God. However, as David Platt points out in this message, Jesus spoke more on hell than any other person recorded in Scripture. God’s Word clearly teaches that hell is a reality and that it is consistent with God’s holiness, justice, and goodness. However, based on what Christ has accomplished through his life, death, and resurrection, we can escape the judgment we deserve. Heaven is also a reality, and those who trust in Christ can look forward to an eternal new creation in which we enjoy God forever in resurrected bodies that are free from sin and suffering.
Isn’t Heaven a False Comfort and Hell a Cruel Myth?
