Ethiopia
With stories of Matthew and Bartholomew first bringing the gospel to Ethiopia in the 1st century AD, Coptic Christianity today is the country’s majority religion. Today, the church in Ethiopia finds itself amidst a growing Muslim population, poverty, and violence.

Evangelism
With our help, a church planter who had been pastoring in the Middle East partnered with a local church in Addis Ababa—the capital city of Ethiopia—and planted a new church. Today, the church has over 60 members, three pastors, and is seeking to be a gospel presence among unbelievers.
Leadership Development
We are partnering with a local church to raise and equip church leaders. The lead pastor is working to raise future leaders in various cities to promote healthy churches and church planting.
HOW TO PRAY FOR
Ethiopia
For safety amidst persecution.
Despite Christianity being the most popular religion, Ethiopian Christians can face persecution and limited religious freedom. Pray for their safety and for endurance during trials.
For strong, healthy churches to be planted.
With various denominations and theologies, pray for healthy churches to be planted and for Scripture to be preached clearly and widely.
For peace and pressing physical needs.
With physical needs and violence, pray for Ethiopians to have safety, provision, and medical assistance. In the midst of so much strife and unrest, pray that Ethiopians may know the true peace that only comes from Jesus.
For safety and community for Muslim converts.
Christian converts from Muslim backgrounds face persecution and isolation. Pray that they will find community among their brothers and sisters in Christ.
