Malaysia
Today, Christianity accounts for only 9% of Malaysia’s population. With Islam as the official national religion and the presence of other religions, the church in Malaysia faces legal and social restrictions, particularly regarding evangelism to Muslims.

Evangelism
With our help, a Chinese-speaking church is being planted to reach both locals and Chinese immigrants living in Malaysia. Currently, this project is leading a Mandarin-speaking fellowship, discipling believers, and sharing the gospel with immigrant Chinese communities and others. Through meeting in common spaces, relationships are built with professionals, fostering opportunities for gospel conversations.
Humanitarian Relief
With our help, an outreach center is meeting both spiritual and physical needs by teaching women basic life skills and other educational opportunities that can help their families generate income. The teachers are also sharing the gospel with these women, teaching them that they are made in God’s image and have value in the world.
Leadership Development
With our help, a project that is planting churches through a network of pastors is seeing new churches established in Malaysia and the rest of Southeast Asia. With mentorship groups and resources, this project is both training and equipping pastors to start new churches.
HOW TO PRAY FOR
Malaysia
For religious restrictions to be lifted.
Restrictions and pressure against Christianity come from both a government and societal level. Pray for more freedoms for Christians in Malaysia, specifically for the ability to speak openly about their faith with the Malay and other people groups / religions.
For long-term opportunities for missionaries.
It’s difficult to obtain a visa as a missionary, and missionaries can be deported if suspected of missionary work among Muslims. Pray for opportunities to open for missionaries to stay long-term and for their perseverance.
For the gospel to spread.
We can praise God for gospel growth among indigenous populations, and pray for the gospel to be shared, heard, and believed throughout Malaysia.
