One of the things I love about reading and praying through the gospels just back to back to back to back is the opportunity to, on a pretty regular basis, works out to a little less than once a month, just to read the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, which is both hard and glorious at the same time, right? I like to read the story over and over again of how Jesus was mocked, and beaten, and scourged, and spit upon, and nailed to a cross. How he experienced Mark 15:34, that God forsakenness. He experienced the judgment that you and I deserve in our sin.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.
This Verse Reminds Us That Jesus Died For Us
To come to Mark 15:37 and just let it soak in, Jesus, God in the flesh, who came and lived a perfect life with no sin in him. He had no sin for which to die. Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. He died. At that moment, he paid the price for your sin and my sin, the sin of all who trust in him.
Oh, let me just think. Most people who listen to this podcast right now, let me just say like if you do not know Jesus as the savior and Lord of your life, turn from your sin today and trust in what Jesus has done on the cross for you. God so loved the world he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him will not perish, but it will have everlasting life, will be forgiven of sin, brought into eternal life with God. Believe in Jesus. He uttered a loud cry and breathed his last on your behalf. That’s the greatest news in the world.
Mark 15:37 Praises God For The Cross
Jesus, we stop today to praise you all over again for the cross, to praise you for paying the price for my sin, for our sins, all of our sins that you took the judgment we deserve. Like we should be … We just confess this together. We should be in hell right now, all of us experiencing your eternal judgment. Oh God, we deserve this. The payment for sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our, Lord Jesus Christ to uttered a loud cry and breathed his last.
Jesus, we praise you for the cross. We worship you for the cross. We love you. Adore you. We exalt you, and obviously not just for the cross, but for your resurrection from the grave. This is the greatest news in all the world, that you have paid the price for our sins and you have conquered it and we might have life. We praise you for this news. Pray that you would help us to make this news known.
We Pray For People In Our Sphere Of Influence Who Don’t Know Him
God, we pray even right now for people in our sphere of influence who don’t know you. Who don’t know the wonder of what you did on the cross personally in their own hearts. God, please save them. We pray for family members, for friends, for coworkers. We pray that you’d give us boldness to share the gospel all over with them today to just say, “Hey, can I tell you again about what Jesus has done for you?” Maybe for the first time tell you about what Jesus has done for you and speak to the first time.
Mark 15:37 Prays For The Ansari People In Pakistan
God, really pray for the Ansari people in Pakistan, 4.7 million people, no known Ansaris who are followers of Jesus in Pakistan, meaning most Ansaris, most of these 4.7 million men and women and children don’t even know the truth of what you did on the cross. God, change that we pray. Make the glory of Jesus, the goodness of Jesus, the cross of Jesus, the salvation of Jesus known among the Ansari in Pakistan we pray. Send out laborers from nearby, from far away. Send out some of us to take the gospel to the Ansari and Pakistan. We pray, that they might know what you did on the cross.
We exalt you for who you are. What you have done, honoring a loud cry and breathing your last on our behalf. That we might right now have communion with you and forever have communion with you. We pray all of this in your name. Amen.
