Legalism
Legalism is the error of following the law of God in order to achieve a righteousness of your own, or of seeking to be approved by God through one’s obedience rather than trusting in the righteousness of Christ which can only be received by faith. Legalists often add to the law or seek to obey it externally without addressing the need for a transformed heart.
