The Exclusivity of Christ (John 14:6)

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”
– John 14:6

Oh, this verse goes right in the face of a religiously pluralistic world that says there are all kinds of different religions. They’re just a matter of subjective preference. Or all kinds of different ways to God. You just gotta pick the one that works best for you. Jesus says none of that is true. This is not a matter of subjective preference. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to God except through Him.

Look for an opportunity today to share with someone that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

This verse shows us that the only way to God is through Christ

Think about that. As you look around you, as I look around me, there is no one that we know, no one that we will see today, no one that we will interact with that will come to God except through Jesus. Everyone around us, their eternity is dependent on hearing who Jesus is and what Jesus has done and believing in Him, coming to God through Him. Let that soak in – let that change our perspective on everybody around us today. Let it lead us to share this verse with people around us, with somebody around us.

Would you look for an opportunity today to share John 14:6 with somebody? Somebody this week, go to them. Maybe it’s somebody you know well. Maybe it’s somebody you just met and say, “Listen, I gotta tell you this: Jesus is the only way to God. Do you know Jesus?” However you get there in the conversation, just get to that point and call them to believe in Jesus because they can’t come to God without Him. Their eternity will be separated from God without Jesus.

John 14:6 Reminds us to actively share the Gospel with others

God, we pray. We pray especially as we know that there are just so many temptations for us to stay silent with our faith, to stay silent with the gospel. It’s so common among us in the Church. We are so prone to stay silent with the gospel. God, we want that to change, we want to have boldness to share the gospel, and we want people to know the truth of Jesus. We believe this, John 14:6, and everybody needs to hear it.

This is true. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Everybody needs to hear this, so, God, help us today to share this news with somebody. Help us to speak John 14:6, the truth behind it. Help us to share it. God, we pray that You would open hearts, open eyes to believe it.

God, we pray that You would draw people to Yourself, to You as the Father, through Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life today. We pray that this would happen. Please, oh, God, today, through us, through our mouths speaking this word. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.
