“Then the seventh angel then blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever.'”
– Revelation 11:15
This verse just summarizes what the Book of Revelation is all about: where all of history is headed. You know, when people read through Revelation, there’s obviously a lot of challenges, with understanding different symbols, different imagery, different descriptions, and there’s a lot of debate in the church about what this or that means, but in the end, I think we can all agree.
In the end, the day will come when the kingdom of this world becomes the Kingdom of our Lord. And He shall reign forever.
Revelation 11:15 is A Prophecy
Everyone who believes the Bible, reads the Book of Revelation can agree, there’s one main theme. Simplified? I would summarize it in three words. Those three words would be: Our God wins. That’s what the Book of Revelation is all about. In the end, the day will come when the kingdom of this world becomes the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever. We know all of history is headed toward the day when Jesus will reign over all. That reign which obviously, he has now and in Matthew 28:18 kind of way, “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me,” he has been exalted at the right hand of the Father.
But we also know that this king, who has come, who has died on the cross, risen from the grave, ascended to Heaven, that he’s coming back and the fullness of his reign will be consummated and known all over the earth. And so, that’s the day for which we long. That’s the day we look forward to and that’s the day we are confident is coming. So amidst a world of all kinds of turmoil and uncertainty, I look at my news feed, I just see all kinds of things going on in different parts of the world that just make you wonder what is happening.
Revelation 11:15 Gives Us Confidence
I look at things in the country where I live and I’m like, “What is going on?” There’s just a confidence that seeps in from Revelation 11:15, when you look at everything that’s going on in the world and you go, “Well, in the end I know what’s going to happen,” so I can have confidence. In the middle of all kinds of questions, I can have confidence today.
We look to God and we pray all of our trust in you, oh, God. Lord Jesus, we trust in you. We trust that you are working all things. Even the things we don’t understand going on in the world around, even the things we don’t understand in our lives, I think about people listening to this who are walking through really challenging times, who are walking through all kinds of confusion and questions, not just in a wider world around but right in front of them.
Why is this happening? Where is this leading? What is going to happen here in my life or my family and I don’t understand this or that, God we praise you for the confidence that when we lift up our eyes from what we see right around us and we look ahead, we know the day is coming when the kingdom of the world will become the kingdom of our Lord and His Christ. And he shall reign forever and ever.
This Verse Encourages Us to Put Trust in Jesus
And we know what that means. We know that for all who trust in you that means no more sorrow and no more suffering and no more tears; that you’ll wipe away every tear from our eyes. That we will have an eternal, everlasting peace and joy and experience of your love that is perfect and will never, ever end. So we pray. God, hasten the coming of that day, and we pray this with confidence today amidst all kinds of turmoil and uncertainty around us. We praise you, we know, that in the end you will reign forever and ever. And so we put all of our trust, our hope in you today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
