I was Blind, now I See (John 9:25)

He answered, “Whether he is a sinner, I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
– John 9:25

I love John 9:25. I love this whole story. So this is John, chapter nine. Story of a man born blind. We hear and we read about Jesus healing him and the Pharisees are mad. The religious teachers, leaders, rulers, they are mad. Just think about it. They’re mad when this man is healed of his blindness. In part, because he was healed on the Sabbath and so the Pharisees are saying, “This man is not from God. He’s a sinner.” So they go, they find this guy who was blind and they say, “We know this man is a sinner who healed you,” and that’s when this man replies, “Whether he is a sinner, I do not know. One thing I do know, though I was blind, now I see.”

In other words, here’s what Jesus has done in my life and it’s totally transformed everything. He gives testimony and then the conversation goes on between this man and these religious leaders and it’s awesome, the way he speaks to them. They end up, in a very sad way, totally casting him out, saying, “You were born in utter sin,” because they were basically believing that he had to have been blind because of his sin or somebody else’s sin in his family. So they cast him out and Jesus finds him and says, “Do you believe in the son of man?” This guy says, “Who is he, that I may believe in him?” Jesus said, “You’ve seen him. It’s he who is speaking to you,” he said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped Jesus.

We Should Share With Others The Differences Jesus Has Made In Our Lives

So all this story, there’s so much we could talk about, but I read John 9:25. I want to lead us to pray according to it because of its simplicity. This man testifies, “I was blind, now I see.” Here is the difference Jesus has made in my life. Based on that, I just want to encourage you today, or if you’re listening to this at the end of the day, tomorrow, but sometime the next 24 hours, maybe put it that way.

Would you pray for an opportunity to share with someone else a difference that Jesus has made in your life? Maybe the difference. Maybe just all out the gospel, how Jesus has saved you from your sin. Or maybe something more simple, but regardless of who that’s with, would you just look for an opportunity today to, in a simple, significant way, tell somebody else what Jesus has done for you. A difference Jesus has made in you.

John 9:25 Shows Us What Jesus Can Do In Our Lives

God, I pray for that in my life. I pray for that in every single person who’s listening right now, that you would open a door for us sometime in the next 24 hours to encourage someone else with what you have done in our lives. With the difference you, Jesus, have made in our lives.

So God, we pray specifically, even, for an opportunity to share that with someone who doesn’t know you, who doesn’t know who you are, that in the next 24 hours, we would have an opportunity to tell somebody who doesn’t know you, what kind of difference you have made in our lives.
God, we pray that if we have this opportunity to share this with someone who doesn’t know you. God, we pray that you might do this work of faith and worship in their hearts. That you might lead them to say, “I want Jesus to do that in my life. I believe.” To become a worshiper of Jesus, just like this man who was born blind in John nine. God, would you bring about that miracle through our testimony to Jesus over the next 24 hours? God, I pray many people’s lives, as we do this.

So God help us, we pray, to look for always be in tune to every potential opportunity we have to point people to who you are. To give testimony to what you have done in our lives and may your glory, Jesus, spread through us in this way. In your name, we pray. Amen.
