Everlasting (Isaiah 40:28–31) - Radical

Secret Church is this Friday. It's not too late to join us! 🎟️

Everlasting (Isaiah 40:28–31)

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God. The Creator of the ends of the earth, He does not grow faint or grow weary. His understanding is unsearchable.”
– Isaiah 40:28–31

And instead of reading the verse today, I’m going to read just a few verses, and instead of giving commentary on those verses, oh, these verses just speak for themselves. So I just want to encourage you, before I even read Isaiah 40:28–31, especially if you feel weak in any way in your life; just let these words soak into your heart, and I’m going to let this text just lead us right into praying according to it.

This Verse Reminds Us Where Our Strength Is

We have no strength apart from God whose might is everlasting.

He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might, He increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted, but they who wait for the Lord, shall renew their strength.

They shall mount up with wings like eagles. And they shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Oh God, we praise You as the everlasting God. The One who creates us, and the One who sustains us. We praise you for not just your unsearchable wisdom, but for Your unending power. You never get tired.

Isaiah 40:28–31 Humbes Us to Rest

Oh God, we are humbled. Every night when we lay down to sleep, that the most powerful person in the world for five, six, seven, eight, nine hours a day, cuddles up like a little baby, totally helpless; unable to do anything because we need rest.

You, oh God, need no rest like that. You continue on as the Creator, sustainer of the ends of the earth. While we are sleeping, You are the one who is sustaining us, sleeping. And while we’re sleeping, You’re working in all kinds of ways all around the world.

Isaiah 40:28–31 Praises God for His Everlasting Power

We praise you for your everlasting, unending power, and we look to You as weak people. We have no strength apart from You, oh God.

I see this life, I pray that You would help us all to see this in our lives; see our weakness. I pray that You would help us to all see this in our lives. Help us to see our weakness without You, that You are the source of strength, and You promise to give it to us when we ask.

This Verse Leads Us to Praise God for His Strength

So even the most healthy among us; we grow weary. Even the youngest among us; we get exhausted, but those who wait on You, shall have strength, shall have renewed strength.

Mounting up, we praise You for this picture with wings like eagles, running and not weary. Walking and not fainting. God, we pray for Your strength today and in every facet of our lives. We look to You as our strength and we praise You for your provision of it.

We praise you for every breath we have. Lord, we praise you for every beat of our hearts that You are strengthening and enabling to happen, and we pray for Your strength in every way; for Your strength spiritually today, for Your strength emotionally today, for Your strength physically today, for Your strength relationally today. Oh God, You are our sustenance and we look today to You as the source of unending strength in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
