A Prayer for Healing (Psalm 119:8)

“I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me.”
– Psalm 119:8

We are praying each day during this pandemic for specific needs that people are sending in to radical.net/prayerrequests, specific ways that we can be praying for each other in this pandemic and I want to read this prayer request that came in and then an update from it.

Today we pray for a brother and his family dealing with COVID–19. Lord, do that which only You can do. Help this family to know that because Christ was forsaken, they will never be.

A Prayer for Healing During this Pandemic

Hayden Meath was diagnosed with COVID a week ago and had a massive heart attack and stroke today. He is in ICU. Man, I got this update from Hayden’s wife, Nicole. She talks about being in the garage hall of the hospital where her husband is. Hayden and Nicole have 10 children and they’re followers of Jesus and Nicole writes, “Please pray that Hayden will wake up and be able to breathe on his own, that he will have full and total brain and body function.”

She acknowledges this is a miracle that would astound doctors so she said, “Let’s pray for that.” She asked that we pray for comfort for her children and strength and soundness of mind for her. She says, “Please, please tell everyone you know, don’t let up in singing over him and speaking life. I will bless the Lord at all times. His praises will continually be on my tongue.”

Psalm 119:8 Prays that God Would Heal the Sick

I want to lead us to pray for Hayden and I want us to pray Psalm 119, verse 8. I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me. God, we pray right now for Hayden. God, we plead on his behalf. We pray, God, that you would heal his body, that you would miraculously move. God, we’re asking for that. God, that you would do that which only you can do.

We are asking for you God, to enable him to wake up, be able to breathe on his own. We’re asking you, God, for full and total brain and body function, for a miracle that astounds doctors. So, God, we plead for that. God, we pray for comfort for Hayden and Nicole’s 10 kids. God, we pray that they would know you were with them. They would know that you have not forsaken their dad and you have not forsaken them. You’re not forsaking their mom.

God, we pray that you would bless Nicole. We pray that you would strengthen her. We pray that you would continually strengthen her with your word just like we see all over Psalm 119 that your word would be her strength, her rock, her foundation, your promises, your purposes. She would know your presence with her. She would know your power with her, your wisdom, your love.

Psalm 119:8 Pleads for God to Show His Strength and Sustenance

God, we pray that over her, over her kids and we pray this over Hayden and everyone involved in caring for Hayden, that you would give them wisdom, that you would help them to know how best to care for him. Oh God, we hate the effects of sin and suffering in this world, and we are so thankful for your love, your grace, as we praise you, Jesus, that you’ve not left us alone in this world of her. That you’ve come to us, that you identify with us in our suffering, that you took all our sin and suffering upon yourself, that you died on the cross for our sins, that you died on the cross for Hayden’s sins and Nicole’s sins and my sins and all have trusted in you.

God, we praise you and we pray to you. We pray that you would show your power in Hayden’s life, in Nicole’s life and their family’s life, and every single one of those kids’ lives. God may they know you’re never forsaking love. Right now and the days ahead, we pray that you would show your supernatural power, strength, sufficiency, sustenance, in ways far beyond what we even know to ask or imagine right now. God, we pray. We plead together for Hayden and for Nicole and for their 10 kids. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
