What Kind of Love Is This?

God’s love is surprising because He doesn’t need to love us. In Himself, God has no need to love us. The Father is perfectly satisfied in the Son. (John 3:35; 5:20). The Son is completely devoted to the Father. (John 14:30-31). Yet, in His goodness, God does love us.

  1. God’s love is surprising because he doesn’t need to love us.
  2. God’s love is surprising because we don’t deserve his love.
  3. God’s love is surpassing because he gives his only Son.
  4. God’s love is surpassing because he gives His only Son as our substitute.

Bart is the Senior Pastor at Christ Fellowship Church. He is an Alabama native and has lived in the Birmingham area since 2009. He and his wife Leslie met sometime during kindergarten (they guess), began dating during high school, and have been married since 1998. He and Leslie have four children: Rachel, Jonathan, Abigail, and Isaac.

LESS THAN 1% OF ALL MONEY GIVEN TO MISSIONS GOES TO UNREACHED PEOPLE AND PLACES.

That means that the people with the most urgent spiritual and physical needs on the planet are receiving the least amount of support. Together we can change that!
