The Name of Jesus

The Name of Jesus

One day, the Bible promises that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That day is coming, when all the world will see Him for who He truly is. Yet even in the midst of Christmas—a season that should be centered on Christ—it’s surprisingly easy to get distracted by the busyness, the traditions, and even the good things that can subtly pull our attention away from Him.

That’s why David Platt wrote this Advent devotional. His hope is that it will help you slow down and recenter your heart on Jesus by reflecting on 25 powerful names of Christ revealed in Scripture. Each day leading up to Christmas offers a short, Scripture-rooted meditation, questions to help you reflect, and a prayer to guide your worship. In addition, every day highlights one unreached people group—men and women around the world who are still waiting to hear the name of Jesus for the very first time.

This Advent season is an opportunity not just to prepare for Christmas morning, but to prepare your heart for the day when all nations will gather before the throne of Christ. Let these daily readings deepen your worship, fuel your prayers, and awaken your longing for the coming King—the name above every name.
