Definitively Denouncing White Supremacy (Two-Minute Video)

I want to bring two texts to bear on our gathering today, in light of events down the street not too far from here in Charlottesville. As Genesis 1:27 makes clear, God has created all men and women in His image. Revelation 7 tells us that one day men and women from every nation, every tribe, every people, every language are going to gather around God’s throne and give Him worship.

God has created all men and women in His image.

What that means is that God, in His word definitively denounces, every form of racism— including any form of white supremacy as antithetical to His word, His design, His character, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we, as the church of Jesus Christ, definitively denounce and repudiate white supremacy and any form of racial ethnic hatred as evil and a scheme of the Devil intended to bring suffering and division to our society.

Therefore, we, as the church of Jesus Christ, definitively denounce and repudiate white supremacy and any form of racial ethnic hatred as evil and a scheme of the Devil intended to bring suffering and division to our society.

We decry any form of racism in our own hearts along those lines. So, may God give us grace in our country, and as the church in our country, to bring these texts to bear on how we think about all of these things.
