Is that not an awesome doxology conclusion to the book of Romans? This is definitely one of my favorite books in the Bible.
Romans 16:25–27 Emphasizes the Strengthening Power of the Gospel
Such a powerful, triumphant picture of the gospel and the effects of the gospel in creating a totally different kind of community that is zealous to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth because they are in love with God and His glory.
All of those themes are wrapped up here and these last three verses. So let’s just pray through them and see how these themes come together. Oh God, you are able to strengthen us according to the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ. We pray for your strength in our lives today according to the gospel. And according to the good news of Jesus Christ. We know that in Jesus, we have peace with you. We are more than conquerors through him. Nothing can separate us from your love for us.
If you are for us, then nothing can stand against us. God help us to live in that strength today, according to the revelation of this mystery that was kept secret for long ages, but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations. God, we praise you that 2000 years after Jesus has come, we have been reached with this gospel.
Romans 16:25–27 Encourages Us to be Witnesses of God’s Glory
That through your Word written down, that through those who have faithfully passed it down from generation to generation, that we have been reached with the good news of Jesus. We praise you for all those who have gone before us. Who have faithfully in your Word, written it down onto the inspiration of your Holy Spirit and then for brothers and sisters who have faithfully translated your Word.
And passed it on from generation to generation and nation to nation. So God, help us to be faithful, to do the same in our day, to translate your Word into all the languages of the world, to spread your Word to all the nations of the world according to your command, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith. God, we pray that you would bring about the obedience of faith among all the peoples, all the nations of the world.
Prayer for the Wollo Amhara People
For the Wollo Amhara people of Ethiopia, 6.4 million of them, God cause the Wollo Amhara people to be reached with the gospel. Bring about the obedience of faith according to your eternal command to make the gospel known in all the nations. God, may it be so among them and every other people group in the world. All of this to your glory, to the only wise God, be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ.
Yes God, through Jesus, your Son, our Savior, his Spirit in us. May you be glorified through us. Help us to live for Your glory today in everything we do, that we might point people to you, that you might be glorified for the grace that you have poured out into our hearts to use language from Romans. To the only wise God, be glory forever and more through Jesus Christ. In His name we pray. Romans 16:25–27. Amen.
