Promise of Deliverance (Psalm 50:15) - Radical

Promise of Deliverance (Psalm 50:15)

Call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you and you shall glorify me. What a great verse.
– Psalm 50:15

Memorize this verse and then do it every time you face trouble, every day you face trouble. Psalm 50:15, call upon me in the day of trouble.

Psalm 50:15 Is a Promise for When We Face Adversity

Even if you just think about what the verse clearly implies. We will have days of trouble. Some of you are experiencing right now a day of trouble. Even just that word, just what Jesus promised us before he went to the cross. In this world you will have trouble, trial challenges, heartache, days when it’s hard to keep going, days when you are facing obstacles or opposition. Oh, so many different things that could be in this category of trouble. So when you have a day of trouble, call upon me. Oh, justice. It’s clearly implied that we will have days of trouble.

It’s clearly implied that God will be right there and we can call upon him. And God says, I will deliver you. I will bring you out of trouble. This is Jesus right after he tells us in this world we’ll have trouble. He says, but take heart. I have overcome the world. You know the one who has overcome the trouble of this world, who has died on a cross and risen from the grave and conquered sin and death itself.

He is able to deliver you for all who trust in Jesus. Ah, this is so good. The day of trouble will not be the end of your story. You will be delivered from trouble. And it may not happen in the way you or I want today or tomorrow, but one day trouble will be no more. And Psalm 50:15 says, and you shall glorify me as the one who delivers you from trouble. That’s guaranteed.

Psalm 50:15 Encourages Us to Run to God when We Face Difficulties

So God, we pray today, and specifically all of us who are in a day of trouble right now, we call upon you. God, we need you. We need your help. Lord, we need your strength. We need your peace. God, we need your wisdom. We need your guidance. Lord, we need your direction. We need your hope. We need your joy. God, we need you in the day of trouble. Help us, we pray. Deliver us, we pray from the trouble we’re walking through right now.

And God, we praise you for your deliverance. We praise you for your promise to help us and ultimately to deliver us all glory be to your name, Jesus. You’re the one who has overcome the world, and we trust in you. We look forward to your deliverance from all of our troubles, including this day of trouble. And we say together, we shall glorify you.

Praying for Sudan

We will glorify you for the help you give today, and we will glorify you for the deliverance you ultimately provide. God, I’m just compelled to pray for people today in the midst of trouble in Sudan. God, we pray especially for unreached Muslim people groups in Sudan, in Khartoum, and out from Khartoum in places like the Darford region. In God, we pray amidst the trouble in Sudan. We cry out for your deliverance for them. We pray you bring them to a knowledge of Jesus, of the one who has conquered sin and death. God please, cause the gospel to spread throughout Sudan. We are calling upon you in their day of trouble.

Deliver them we pray, through the power of the gospel, that they might glorify you and pray all of this according to your word in Psalm 50:15. And we pray that you would help us to recall this word whenever we are in the day of trouble. In Jesus’ name we pray, in the name of the one who has overcome trouble in this world. Amen.
