God’s Unfailing Love (Psalm 89:1)

I’ll sing of the steadfast love of the Lord forever with my mouth. I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
– Psalm 89:1

I just want to encourage you based on this verse, to do these two things today to one sing of the steadfast love of the Lord. I want to encourage you after you listen to this, or at some point today, before you go to sleep tonight, just put on a song or sing a song on your own of the steadfast love of the Lord. Just sing about God’s faithful love toward you. Sing to him either alone or with somebody else in a car or somewhere else. Just sing of the steadfast love of the Lord at some point today. Rejoice over God’s love for you and God’s love for the world with singing.

Psalm 89:1 is a call to praise God and to make him known.

That’s the first thing straight out of Psalm 89:1. And then the second thing, also straight out of Psalm 89:1 with your mouth, make known God’s faithfulness to someone in another generation. So this could technically go either direction, either generation before you or behind you. But share with someone today how faithful God is. Specifically how faithful God has been in your life. Tell someone younger than you or someone older than you about the faithfulness of God. And let’s just do Psalm 89:1 today.

Let’s sing of his steadfast love and with our mouths, let’s make known God’s faithfulness to all generations. What a good way to spend some of our time today. So let me pray accordingly. God, we praise you for your steadfast love, for your faithful, loyal, kind, mercy toward us that never fails. That is new today. We have new mercies this morning, and as a result, we have a new reason to sing of your steadfast love.

Psalm 89:1 reminds us we are to declare God’s faithfulness to all generations.

Be exalted, oh God, in the songs from our lips for your steadfast love. And God, we pray that you would help us today to make your faithfulness known to all generations. We praise you for your faithfulness, your faithfulness to your Word, your faithfulness to accomplish your purposes, and your faithfulness to your promises.

Oh God, we praise you for your faithfulness to us. So help us today to speak, to make known to others your faithfulness. We pray that generations before us and behind us would know of your faithfulness because of us, and we pray that specifically today.

Prayer for the Maranao People

And then God, we pray for people who have never heard of your steadfast love in Jesus, and for people who’ve never heard of your faithfulness in Jesus, specifically for the Maranao people of the Philippines, for all 1.5 million of this Muslim people group who doesn’t know about the steadfast love of Jesus for them, God, we pray that the Maranao people would be reached so that they might sing of your steadfast love forever, and they might know in all their generations and all the coming generations of the merit now that they might know of your faithfulness. In Jesus. God, we pray all of this according to your word in Psalm 89:1, help us today to sing of your steadfast love and with our mouths make known your faithfulness to all generations. In Jesus’ name, amen.
