“They will make war on the Lamb and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is lord of lords and king of kings and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”
– Revelation 17:14
Ah, I love this verse. When you read Revelation 17:14 and you see judgment on Satan, the devil, and all of his demons and all their doing on the Earth to deceive and to destroy. It talks about them making war on the Lamb and even seeing this picture, warring against Jesus, in the context of war against the people of Jesus, the church to remember that when Satan is coming after you, he is coming after Jesus.
For all who trust in Jesus, he identifies himself with you. War against the church is war against Christ and I just want to encourage you, remember that when you are tempted, that you have Jesus in you.
Revelation 17:14 Encourages Us While Walking through Trials
When you’re walking through trials, you have Jesus with you on your side, walking with you, protecting you, guiding you, leading you, directing you, giving you everything you need, that Satan’s wars against you are wars against the Lamb and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is lord of lords and king of kings and those with him, listen to this description.
This is again for all who trust in Jesus. If you have never put your trust in Jesus, I urge you, put your trust in Jesus today, as the lord of lords and the king of kings and the one who alone can save you from your sins and for all who trust in him, you are, listen to these three words. You’re called by God.
This Verse Teaches Us God Chose Us
There’s so much to this language we could talk about all over the Bible. Foreknown by God, called before the creation of the world, he’s called your name. You’re called and chosen. God has chosen to pour out his affection on you. God has chosen to save you from your sin. Oh, God has chosen to make you his child. This is Jesus, saying to his disciples, you did not choose me, I chose you. To hear God saying this to you today, you are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Oh God, may it be so. God, as soon as I read those three words together, I pray for my own life and I pray for all of us who have placed our trust in the lord of lords and the king of kings. We thank you for standing with us, on our behalf, for fighting for us today, all day long.
Revelation 17:14 Reminds Us of God’s Strength
For your strength in us, for your joy in us, for your life in us, your peace in us, your power in us, for defending us as lord of lords, king of kings, that you are each of our defender, that you have called us, that you have chosen us to be children of God, sons and daughters of God, so we pray. May we be called faithful. Help us all be full of faith today in you. I pray this over my life, I pray this over every single person who’s listening right now, who has put their trust in you, help us to live full of faith in you today, we pray. Help us not to waver in faith. Help us to be bold in faith, to walk faithfully with you, obeying your word, proclaiming the gospel.
This Verse Leads Us to Pray for the People of India
Here to the ends of the Earth, to the Saini people of India. 700,000 of them, no known followers of Jesus. God, we pray that they would hear the good news of the Lamb through us as your people, through you responding to our prayers, even right now for the Saini people, to our giving and our going and the going of brothers and sisters in India, from other places, for the spread of the gospel of the Saini, God, we pray that you would help us to engage in the battle.
Like we see here in Revelation 17:14. For the souls of men and women among all the nations, knowing that as we go. You are our defender. You are the conqueror, you are Lord of lords and king of kings. We are called and chosen and faithful. May it be so we pray. According to Revelation 17:14. In Jesus’ name, amen.
