What Does Rest Look Like for David Platt?

Rest is an important part of our lives as Christians. Although rest looks different for everyone, cultivating time to rest is important for every single person. In this video, Pastor David Platt shares what a day of rest looks like for him.

  1. Sleep
  2. Reading
  3. Family Time

A day of relaxation for me, the first thing that comes to my mind is sleep. So sleep late, take a nap, go to bed. Just go to bed early. I pull a fair number of all-nighters and have a fairly odd sleeping schedule. And so, a day of relaxation, sleep. And then total relaxation would definitely involve sitting back and reading a book. Not for study or not for work. Really, I’m not talking mindless, but just for personal edification, just a restful reading.

And then playing with the kids. I mean, going to the park with the kids, doing something fun, family night, dinner with the kids, pizza or something like that. And then just relaxing that evening with Heather. That would be a day of relaxation. And sometimes we try to cultivate those days. Sometimes we do better than others, but that picture right there just brings me to a nice place at this moment.
