Trusting in God to Lead Us (Joshua 2:24)

“And they said to Joshua, truly the Lord has given all the land into our hands and also all the inhabitants of the land melt away because of us.”
– Joshua 2:24

What a report. Joshua 2:24 is people coming back from spying out the promised land. Remember the last time they did this and the report came back. This land is full of big people that we could never overtake. And we can’t go in there, even though God had promised it to them. And they turned back, rebelled against him. An entire generation died in the wilderness. And now, now a new generation is on the scene and they go into the land and they see it and they come back and they report to Joshua.

Truly the Lord has given all the land into our hands. In other words, we believe God. We are trusting God to lead us, as he has promised he would lead us. Is that not a good word? What happens when God’s people trust him to lead them as he has promised he would lead them? And even this picture, the Lord has given all the land into our hands.

We Should Take God At His Word

The reality is God owns that land. They know it. And they know that the only way they can take it is if God gives it to them, in the same way, you and I should know, God owns all things, which means anything good we ever receive, that we ever have, is given to us by his hand and all of this then leads us to pray.

So God, help us today to take you at your word, in all that you’re calling us to do according to your word and the leadership of your spirit, help us to boldly step into what you are calling us to, without fear, with humility before you, with trust in you, with wholehearted, Caleb like, Joshua like, trust in you. And God, help us as your people to trust your promises, your plans, your purposes. And, God, not to shrink back from all that you are calling us to.

Joshua 2:24 Prays For The Nosu People Of East Asia

Especially when we think about the mission you’ve given us in this world to make disciples of all the nations. God help us to step fully into this mission, to go into all of the lands and to all the places that you’ve called us to go, starting right around us. God help us to go into our cities, our neighborhoods, our communities, proclaiming the good news of your love.

And God, we pray that many people around us would come to know your love. God, help us to spread the gospel, make disciples right where we live. And God, help us not to stop there. Help us to keep going into all the lands and all the nations, to the Nosu of East Asia. Think about this people group, where I’ve been a part of trying to spread the gospel there and taking the good news of your love there. God, we pray for the spread of the gospel to more and more Nosu people. God, we pray that you would help us as your church to go into all the lands, trusting you to fulfill your plan, your purposes, according to your promises.

So God, give us faith like we read about here in Joshua 2:24. We pray this in Jesus’ name, in the name of the one who leads and guides and directs us as the church in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

LESS THAN 1% OF ALL MONEY GIVEN TO MISSIONS GOES TO UNREACHED PEOPLE AND PLACES.

That means that the people with the most urgent spiritual and physical needs on the planet are receiving the least amount of support. Together we can change that!
