“God is a righteous judge and a God who feels indignation every day.”
– Psalm 7:11
I just got back last week from a part of Southeast Asia where I came face-to-face with the trafficking industry in ways I’d not seen before, just learning, stories of victims who have been taken, women, men, little children, taken from their homes, and things done to them that I couldn’t even begin to describe on a podcast like this, and it was so sobering. It was, in a sense, maddening. There’s just this anger inside of me as I thought about the sinfulness and evil and wickedness in the world, and so I come to Psalm 7:11, and makes a lot more sense in light of some of the things I just saw. God is a righteous judge and a God who feels indignation every day.
God knows all of those stories, far more than I can even begin to comprehend. I can hardly take in the little bit that I have learned. To think that God knows all of the wickedness, all of the depths of evil in the world right now, absolutely, He is a God who feels indignation every day, and I praise Him because He’s a righteous judge. It is good to know that there is coming a day when justice will reign fully and finally, and that confidence is because God is a righteous judge.
God feels indignation every day. Put your hope in the One who will faithfully bring forth justice.
I just think, what if God wasn’t a righteous judge? What if He was an unrighteous judge? What if He was not just. We would have no hope of justice, ultimate justice in the world. The only way I can even process through some of the things I saw and heard about in this particular country, and it’s not that it’s just that one particular country. These are countries all around the world. It’s my own country, these things are happening. The only way I could even process that is I know that, one day, justice will reign, that justice is coming.
This Verse Prays For The Spread Of God’s Justice
We pray, God, cause your justice to reign. You are a righteous judge, oh, God, so we pray for the spread of your justice in the world. I pray for that and through my own life, through my own family, through the church that I have the privilege of pastoring, just through co-labors and ministry, God. We pray. We pray for that for all the people who are listening to this right now, Lord. Help us to do justice in this world. Help us to work for justice in this world. And help us to reflect your justice in this world. We pray. God, we can’t even begin to comprehend and sometimes don’t want to comprehend all the depth of injustice in the world and the depth of evil and the depth of wickedness.
Psalm 7:11 Prays For Those In The Trafficking Industry
Lord, we praise you, that you see it all. In the midst of it all, you show yourself as the righteous judge. God, I pray for those who are leading out in this trafficking industry. God, I pray that you would either save them or smite them. And God, I pray that they might come to know your mercy or that they might come to know your justice, swiftly I pray. Lord, we pray that we, as your people, as the church, would be a reflection of your just character in a world of so much injustice around us, and we put all of our hope in you. We don’t put our hope ultimately in this world. We put our hope in you and the justice that you will ultimately and inevitably bring about. So we pray, come, Lord Jesus, just come quickly. In His name, amen.
