The Eternal God Who Redeems Us (Deuteronomy 33:26–27)

“There is none like God of Jeshurun, who rides through the heavens to your help, through the skies in His majesty. The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”
– Deuteronomy 33:26–27

I am just so overwhelmed right now by Deuteronomy 33:26–27. I just want to speak them directly to any person listening right now who knows God. You’ve put your faith in Jesus to forgive you of your sin, restore you to God. You know God as your father. I just want to speak these words to you, especially if you are in need of help from God right now. Which, even as I say that, we all are in need of help from God. At every moment, we have no breath without God. We have no food or water without God. Our hearts don’t beat without God. We live in constant need of help from God.

Jesus, we have put our faith in you to forgive us of our sin and be restored to God.

God Will Always Help Us

And yet, I think about the context here in Deuteronomy and how God’s people are desperate for His help and His provision. There are times in our lives where we feel that desperation all the more when we go through challenges when we go through battles in different ways, and we feel tired and alone, weary, weak, and I’m guessing some of you are there right now. And if that’s you, I just want you to feel this picture. There is none like God. Oh, and I’d love to put your name in there because God rides through the heavens to your help. Would you just get that picture? God rides through the heavens to help you.

He rides through the skies in His majesty to help you. The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Would you just feel that right now? Would you just see the God of the heavens riding through them to be your help? Through the skies in His majesty coming to help you as your dwelling place. He’s the place where you rest, and underneath you are His everlasting arms.

Deuteronomy 33:26–27 Prays For Those Who Are Struggling

So God, I pray Deuteronomy 33:26–27 over those who are struggling right now, over those who need an extra measure of help right now. God, I pray you would ride through the heavens to their help, through the skies in your majesty to help them. God, that they would rest in you, the eternal God as their dwelling place. That they would find deep rest in you today, right now in this moment, and they would know underneath them are the everlasting arms of the eternal God. There’s no more secure place to be, Oh God, than this. And we praise you for the privilege of being here.

We don’t deserve this. Jesus, we praise you for making this possible. We praise you for talking about riding through the heavens to our help, for being born, living, and dying on a cross, rising from the grave to help us, to save us. We glorify your name and your majesty for your salvation in our lives that makes it possible for us no matter what this world brings us. To know that you, the eternal God, are our dwelling place, and underneath us are your everlasting arms. We rest in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
