Perfect Peace (Isaiah 26:3–4)

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind has stayed on you because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
– Isaiah 26:3–4

These are some of my favorite verses, not just in the book of Isaiah, but in all the Bible. I think about these verses all the time. I pray these verses over people all the time. What a beautiful picture. Isaiah 26:3, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.” How do you live with perfect peace in this world?

Isaiah 26:3–4 gives us the secret to experience perfect peace.

When you look around at all kinds of things in this world, when you see evil and sin and all of its effects in the world, and when you walk through challenging days in your life and tumultuous days and trials, how do you live with perfect peace?

Isaiah 26 says it’s possible when your mind is stayed on God and you trust in God. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind has stayed on you because he trusts in you. That’s the only way to have perfect peace in this world, is to trust in the God who is sovereign over everything in this world and who loves you and cares for you and is committed to providing for you, which is what I love about verse 4, “Trust in the Lord forever.” Forever, in all things, no matter what happens for all of eternity, including today, you can trust in God. Why? For the Lord God is an everlasting rock. He’s a rock that lasts forever, that you can stand on forever through all things.

Isaiah 26:3–4 challenges us to focus our minds on God.

So I just want to pray these verses over our lives. God will pray for perfect peace. I pray for that in my life today. I pray that over every single person listening right now according to your Word and Isaiah 26:3, you say you keep him in perfect peace. You keep her in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you. Please stay our minds on you. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on you. Our minds stayed on you and our hearts trusting in you.

No matter what questions we might have, no matter what challenges we might face, no matter what difficulties we might find ourselves enduring, God help us. We pray to trust in you knowing you are trustworthy, that we can trust in you forever, that you are an everlasting rock. So we pray, God, for perfect peace, for minds state on you and hearts the trust in you as our Everlasting Rock.

Prayer for the Sahrawi People

And God I pray, help us to lead others to stand on you as the rock in their lives. Help us to encourage others today with the perfect peace that’s possible for them through trust in you. And God, we pray for the spread of your everlasting love and trustworthiness to the ends of the earth. To all the peoples of the earth.

We pray today for the Sahrawi people, almost half a million of them… This Muslim people group, no known followers of Jesus among them. God, we pray cause the gospel to spread the good news of your love, your grace, your mercy, your faithfulness. You as the rock, Lord Jesus caused this good news to spread to the Sahrawi people. We pray all this according to your Word and your promise to give perfect peace to us when our minds are stayed on you. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
