Follow Him (Revelation 14:4)

It is these who follow the lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as first fruits for God and the lamb.
– Revelation 14:4

What a great phrase. Don’t you want that phrase to describe your life? These follow the Lamb wherever he goes. What a picture.

Revelation 14:4 encourages unconditional obedience.

This is what it means to be a Christian. This is what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Wherever he goes, we go. And I just want to encourage you in your life today to live with zeal. To do nothing less than this, to follow Jesus wherever he goes, wherever he leads you. Don’t put conditions on your obedience to Jesus. Don’t put restrictions on where you will go or what you will do.

Just think, if we all as followers of Jesus said we’ll do whatever you call us to do. We’ll go wherever you call us to go. And we’ll give whatever you call us to give. We’ll do whatever you call us to do. Oh, the effect in the world of us actually following Jesus wherever he goes, and not just in the world but in our lives to believe that this is life, to be wherever Jesus is. And you start thinking, wherever? I mean, what if he leads me and we pray all the time for unreached people in the world? What if he leads me to go live in this or that place? Today, it’s the Domari Romani people. What if Jesus leads me to go to the Domari Romani people?

Revelation 14:4 gives us an eternal perspective of our lives on earth.

We might have fear or hesitation in that, but don’t forget who you’re following. You’re following the Lamb who gave his life for you. The Lamb who has secured your eternity with him. The Lamb who loves you so much that he died on a cross for you. You can trust him. And when you realize who Jesus is, when you realize who the Lamb is, you realize what you really need to be afraid of is not following him wherever he goes.

So Jesus, we pray today. Help us to follow you wherever you go. Help us to see our lives through this lens today as following you however you lead us, doing whatever you call us to do, saying whatever you call us to say, thinking whatever you lead us to think, desiring whatever you desire for us. God, we pray, help us to faithfully follow Jesus today and tomorrow and the next day and the next day, without condition, without restriction or reservation, and without hesitation. Oh, Jesus, you are the Lord of our lives and we are so thankful you’re our Lord. We praise you for your love for us. We pray that you would help us to trust your love for us as we follow your leadership.

Prayer for the Domari Romani People

And God, we pray that you would lead someone, some of your people to the Domari Romani people, a couple of million of them in the world who have little to no knowledge of the gospel. We know that your Spirit is leading somebody to go to them. So we say, if it’s us, if it’s any one of us, we will go. Or if you’re leading us to some other people group, or however you’re leading us to make disciples of all the nations starting right where we live and wherever you lead, may it be true of us, God, in the end, that we were among those who followed the Lamb wherever he lead us. We pray this, according to your word in Revelation 14:4. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
