Care for the Broken-Hearted (Deuteronomy 22:1)

“You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep going astray and ignore them. You shall take them back to your brother.”
– Deuteronomy 22:1

Such begins this chapter filled with various laws about how God wanted his people to love one another. Deuteronomy 22:1 is the practical outworking of the two great commandments that Jesus gives us in the New Testament. Commandment number one, love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. The second commandment Jesus says is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. Love others as you love yourself. Take care of others, look out for others.

God, help us to love those who are struggling as ourselves.

This Verse Prays That We Love Others Like Our Brothers

The specific picture here in Deuteronomy 22:1, is to look out for each other’s property. If you see a neighbor’s ox or his sheep going astray don’t ignore them, go after them and take them to your brother. A really simple way of looking out for each other. So we pray very simply God help us to love others like this. Today, specifically oh God, help us today to love other people around us as ourselves. Our friends, family members, and God even our enemies help us to love them as ourselves. God help us to love those who are in need as ourselves.

Deuteronomy 22:1 Prays For The Akhwakh People In Russia

God, help us to love those who are struggling as ourselves. God, we pray that You would help us to love people in this world by looking out for them, caring for them. In Your church, Lord help us to love our brothers and sisters like this. Then those without Christ, God help us today to just in practical simple ways, go out of our ways to look out for others and care for others, love others. God as we pray all the time on this podcast for unreached people in the world, today God, for the Akhwakh people in Russia. Another one of these small people groups in the Dagestan region of Russia, remote people groups.

So God help us, help somebody among your people to love the Akhwakh people as ourselves, enough to go and make the gospel known among them. God, we pray for the spread of the gospel among the Akhwakh. God help us to give for the spread of the gospel among all the nations, to live for the spread of the gospel among all the nations. To look out for those who right now have never even heard the good news of Your love for them. Oh God we pray based on Your word to Your people throughout the history of Your people help us.

Yes oh God may it be that we love You with all our heart and soul and mind and strength. And flowing from love for You, God we pray that You would help us very practically to love others as ourselves. In Jesus’ name, we pray amen.
