A Caring Lord (Job 10:12) - Radical

A Caring Lord (Job 10:12)

You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.
– Job 10:12

What great language, what depth of language to hear from Job in the middle of all of his wrestling, in the middle of his suffering, to look to God at this moment and to say, “You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.”

Job 10:12 is clear that God sustains us.

I just want to dive right in and pray this and lead us to meditate on it as we pray and just say this together to God. Job 10:12, oh God, you have granted us life. We don’t want to take the breath we have today for granted. God, we praise you for the gift of life. We praise you for beating hearts and breathing lungs. We praise you for your sustenance today, for your provision of food and water and air and all the millions of things that are happening in our bodies at any given moment that make them work, all these different cells and brainwaves.

And God, we praise you for granting us life, and not just physical life, but spiritual life. We praise you for your Holy Spirit inside of us, for all who’ve placed our faith in Jesus. We praise you for the eternal life that we have right now, for the spiritual vitality we possess by the nature, the power of your Spirit in us.

Job 10:12 reminds us nothing can separate us from the love of God.

God, we praise you for granting us life and steadfast love. Lord, we praise you for your steadfast love that wakes us up every morning with new mercy for your unfailing, never-ending, always dependable love for us, and for the reality that nothing can separate us from your love. God, we praise you for granting us steadfast love, and we praise you for how your care preserves our spirit.

Oh God, we need that. We need you. We need your care, your comfort, your peace, your help, your wisdom, your strength, your care in all these ways to preserve our spirits, especially, oh God, in this world of sin and suffering and struggle in so many different ways. God, we pray for your preservation by the power of your care for us. God, we need your care today in every way, and we pray that you’ll help us to hold fast, preserve our spirits with your care.

Jesus, we praise you for making all these things possible… For life and steadfast love and preserved persevering spirits by your care. Jesus, we exalt you as the fountain from which all of these things spring.

Prayer for the Gorani People

We pray for people who’ve not been reached with the good news of who you are and what you’ve done. God, for the Gorani people of Albania and Kosovo and North Macedonia… About 50,000 of them, no known followers of Jesus. God, we pray that the Gorani would be reached with the good news, the life, the steadfast love, and the care of Jesus. Please God, may it be so we pray. All these things according to your Word in Job 10:12, which we love. We love your Word. We love the life, the steadfast love and the care you’ve given us that preserves our spirit.

In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
