How Does the Word of God Change Peoples’ Lives?

Can Scripture alone actually change people? Is there a particular way lives can be changed? In this video, Christopher Yuan explains how God used Scripture and other people to lead him to saving faith in Christ. According to Christopher Yuan, the primary way God changed his life was through the Word. When Scripture is recognized as the only true source of change, the people, ministries, and organizations all become like pieces of a puzzle, each contributing to one’s eventual conversion in their own unique way, whether through preaching, mentorship, or other means. These people, ministries, and organizations – the pieces in a puzzle – should be similarly rooted in the Word of God, recognizing it as the only way people’s lives can be truly changed.

When I look at my journey, often people ask, “What was the program that the ministry that shared the gospel with you?” What was it?” I moved around so much in prison that there wasn’t any one ministry. There wasn’t any one person. There were people there that added to that puzzle. But the one thing that was consistent throughout the thread that we find, throughout my whole testimony was the word of God. I think… my testimony can be a reminder for us Christians is it’s the word of God that changes people.

How Does the Word of God Change Peoples’ Lives?

It’s not a ministry. It’s not a method. It’s not even people. It’s communicating the word of God to people that saves people. The gospel is the Word of God, and that’s what changes lives. Programs are nice, and ministries are nice, but if they’re not rooted in the Word of God, it’s not going to change lives. In the face of the way our culture is going and the midst of friends who just seem so far away from God, if we just live the Word of God, and preach the Word of God, God is going to do the work to bring souls to himself.
