There is reason to give thanks to God that Islamic law has recently ended in Sudan and individuals no longer face the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity. However, Christians still face intense pressure and persecution from their families and communities. Ongoing conflicts in certain regions of the country continue to pose a threat to Christians as well as other ethnic minority groups.
