God’s Perspective of the Church

God's Perspective of the Church

Many people long for a community where they truly belong, but experiences of hurt, disappointment, or distrust can make the church feel distant. Others see it as a building to attend or an institution to support, missing the extraordinary family God has created through Jesus.

In this message from Ephesians 1:15–23, Pastor David Platt explains that the church is united by the grace of Jesus, filled with the power of Jesus, and spreading the glory of Jesus.

The church is not a gathering of people united by their achievements, backgrounds, or abilities. We were all dead in sin, separated from God, and unable to save ourselves. But God, rich in mercy, made us alive through Christ’s death and resurrection. Through faith in Jesus, we are forgiven, brought into God’s family, and given a new identity that can never fade.

Because Jesus reigns over all things, his people can face temptation, endure suffering, and live with confidence in his power. Together, local churches display his glory and carry the gospel to the world.

In this episode:

  • Why the church is a family, not merely a building or institution
  • How the grace of Jesus unites people from every background
  • Why salvation depends on God’s mercy, not human performance
  • How Christ’s power strengthens believers against sin and suffering
  • How the church displays Jesus’ glory through the Great Commission

Will you trust in Jesus, find your place in his family, and join his people in making his glory known?
