Your Name Endures Forever (Psalm 135:13)

“Your name, O Lord, endures forever. Your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages. Yes, yes, yes, yes. The name of the Lord endures forever. The renown of the Lord endures throughout all ages.”
– Psalm 135:13

Like think what else endures forever? What else endures throughout all the ages? So many things come and go in this world. Most everything in this world comes and goes, does not endure forever throughout the ages.

We are being reminded day in and day out during this pandemic, that health does not endure forever. Your health and my health does not endure throughout the ages, but the name of the Lord does. The renown of the Lord does and those who belong to the Lord know that his promises and his love and his purposes and his Word, all of these things endure forever.

Psalm 135:13 Reminds Us to Rest In the Word of God

In a world full of things that won’t last long (including our health), find rest in the reality that the name, renown, Word, and promises of the Lord endure forever.

All of these things endure throughout the ages and that totally changes our perspective on this world. That totally compels us, doesn’t it, just to clean to the Lord, to his name, to live for his renown because we know that his Word, his truth, his character, his promises are the only things that last forever.

By God’s grace for all who trust in him, we know we have eternal life in him, with him, forever throughout the ages. I’m reading these prayer requests that people are sending in to radical. Let me encourage you to continue to send them in. I want to read from what Scott wrote. He wrote this actually in response to Secret Church a few weeks ago that we did.

This Verse Leads Us to Talk About Prayer Requests

It was our 20th Secret Church gathering and Scott said, “I’ve been a part of the Secret Church teaching ever since these simulcasts started.” He said, “I have two sons who have participated with my church or on their own for several years now and this past Saturday night … So this was a couple of weeks ago … my oldest son passed away and Secret Church all of a sudden took on a new meaning. Due to the current pandemic, we’ve not had any opportunities to get together with him, his wife or his daughter, because we couldn’t share our login for Secret Church with others that would normally gather together. I had sent in the information and then the Saturday before he died, I went to his home to personally deliver the books, the study guides. It was the last time that I would see him alive. And for that, I will be forever grateful for his heart for Christ and for Secret Church”, as he was sharing about that.

This Verse Reminds Us Jesus’ Name Endures Forever

I read this and my heart is so heavy with Scott and with his family, with his son’s wife and daughter. Then I read Psalm 135:13 and I am reminded the name of the Lord endures forever. The renown of the Lord throughout all ages and all who trust in the Lord, including Scott’s son, know they have a life that endures forever. Life that endures throughout all ages.

So in a fresh way today, Jesus, we praise you. We praise your name for your resurrection from the dead. We praise your name for you have conquered sin and the grave. You have overcome death and you have given eternal life to all who trust in you as Lord.

Psalm 135:13 Leads Us to Praise God

Your name, O Lord, endures forever and all who trust in you as Lord have eternal life. We praise you for that reality. We glorify your name, that endures forever. And we give you renown, O Lord, throughout all the ages. So we pray, we pray for your grace, just for an extra measure of grace for Scott and his family, for Scott’s son’s wife and daughter. I don’t even know all their names God, but you do. As they walk through these days, may they know your love for them that will never ever, ever fail them because your love endures forever. May they know your compassion, your grace, your strength, your hope in the middle of despair. May they know your presence with them.

You said it, Jesus. I will be with you always to the end of the age, throughout all the ages. Your presence with your people endures. So God, we praise you in a fresh way today. All of us, all of us together right now for your Word that endures forever. Your promises that endure forever, your life that endures forever. Oh, your name, O Lord, that endures forever. Your renown, O Lord, throughout all the ages. We will praise you forever and ever, and ever with the life that by your grace you have given us. And I look forward to meeting Scott’s son, Scott and family and all who trusted in you and us together, giving you glory. Singing and shouting of your renown throughout all the ages. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
