You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.
– Job 10:12
Wow, what a powerful verse, picturing God’s love for us. “You have granted me,” so this is something God has chosen to give to you and me, and this is Job saying this here in Job 10. God has chosen to give him, God’s chosen to give us life and steadfast love, never-ending, faithful, loyal love, mercy, and goodness.
Job 10:12 pictures God’s love for undeserving sinners.
God doesn’t have to give us that. We deserve the opposite of that, we deserve God’s judgment. We deserve God’s holy wrath, and yet he grants us life and steadfast love. Although we deserve eternal death, he gives us eternal life and his care. Job says, “Your care has preserved my spirit”. Wow. What a picture that God cares for you today and is committed to preserving your spirit through his care for you.
Oh, see this today. God, the sovereign ruler of the universe, cares for you and is committed to preserving your spirit, so look to him. Seek him. Trust in him. Pray to him. Oh God, we praise you for your grace, your mercy, your steadfast love that you give to us, your care for us, your commitment to preserving our spirit, and oh God, we need all these things you have left to ourselves.
Job 10:12 reminds us that God’s love is never-failing and never-ending.
We deserve eternal death, and judgment, and left to ourselves, we would be hopeless, but we praise you for granting us life. Jesus, we praise you for dying on the cross for our sins, for rising from the dead, so that we might live with you. We praise you for granting us life today and steadfast love. God, we praise you for your never-failing, never-ending love for all who trust in Jesus.
Lord, we praise you for your kindness, your mercy, your grace, and your care. God, we pray that you would preserve our spirits today with your care for us. Amidst whatever we’re walking through, God, we need you to preserve our spirits. We are prone to wonder. You know we are prone to doubt. We are prone to despair. God, please preserve our spirits with your personal care for us according to your Word in Job 10:12. Lord, we pray that you would help us to spread today, to others, to encourage others who are in Christ with this life and steadfast love, and your caring, preserving of spirit, and God, to lead others to your steadfast love and your care for them.
Prayer for the Sudanese Arab People
God, we pray specifically today for the Sudanese Arab people of Sudan, for millions, 15 to 18 million of them, amid such suffering in Sudan right now.
Lord, we pray for the spread of your life, and your steadfast love, and your care, and your preservation of spirit to Sudanese Arabs who are suffering in so many ways. God, that they would be reached with the good news of the life, and steadfast love, and care, and preservation, eternal preservation of spirit that’s available in Jesus. God, please may it be so for the Sudanese Arabs and, oh God, in our own lives as we trust in you and your steadfast love and care for us. We pray all this according to your Word in Job 10:12. In Jesus’ name, amen.
