I love Psalm 104:27–28 and the way it depicts God from the very beginning as very great, clothed with splendor and majesty, covering himself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent. Then it goes on to describe the land and the waters as a display of his glory. It describes how God set the earth on its foundations. It gives pictures of his glory in the valleys and on the mountains and the way He provides for all kinds of creatures, for donkeys who quench their thirst, for birds of the heavens that are provided for by him, for wild goats and rock badgers and beasts of the forest that creep about. You see all of these different creatures.
God Our Provider
God is our Provider. Today we call out to Him on behalf of those who are tirelessly working to provide food for the world during this pandemic.
Then you get to Verse 27. It says, “They all look to you to give them their food in due season.” Basically, it’s this powerful picture of God as the supernatural provider for all creatures on the earth, including you and me. God provides sustenance for each one of us on a daily basis. We look to him for breath. The reality is even people who hate God get their very breath from God, their sustenance from God on a daily basis. So as we’re praying together through this pandemic and praying for specific things that people are sending in to radical.net/prayerrequest, so let me encourage you to continue to send in, again, requests there that specifically apply to your life, your family, your church, community, city in the middle of this pandemic and its effects on our lives.
Psalm 104:27–28 Prays for God to Watch Over Food Industry Workers
Aaron writes, “I’m a food worker at a major food manufacturer. My team and I go in every day to continue to make food that the world needs. Please pray that God continues to watch over all of us in this industry and since we can’t socially isolate, that we don’t bring new risk to our families at home.” I am so thankful, one, for what Aaron and all those like Aaron are doing and, two, for you sending this in, Aaron. Then reading Psalm 104: 27-28, “these all look to you to give them their food in due season. When you give it to them, they gather it up. When you open your hand, they are filled with good things.”
And so we pray. God, we know you are our provider. You are our supernatural provider on a daily basis. We thank you for the breath that you have given us this morning, the breath that you will sustain us with all day. God, we praise you for the food we will eat, the water we will drink. We don’t take these things for granted. We pray as you taught us to pray. Jesus, Father, give us this day our daily bread.
Psalm 104:27–28 Praises and Thanks God for His Provision
As we praise you for your provision, we thank you for Aaron and for multitudes of people like Aaron who are working today so that we can have this provision from your hand. Aaron and those like Aaron are instruments of your grace to so many people. So God, we pray together right now, one, in thanksgiving for them and, two, we pray for your blessing on them. God, we pray for your protection of Aaron and Aaron’s home. We pray for your protection of Aaron’s team and those like Aaron wherever they are in the world right now who are working to provide food to people who need it, which is all of us.
So God, we pray for your blessings on these workers, their teams, for your protection of them amidst this virus, certainly for your protection of the spread of this virus through them and the critical role they have to play. God, we pray that, as they do their work, they would know that they are a reflection of your grace at work. God, we thank you. We praise you for Aaron and for all those like Aaron are doing.
And ultimately, God, we thank you. We praise you and pray for Aaron. At the same time, we ultimately praise you for the work you are doing through Aaron and so many others to provide all the food we need, to provide for our needs in due season just as you are doing for creatures all over the earth right now. We praise you as our provider and we pray for the people through whom you are providing for us. In Jesus’s name, we pray. Amen.
