Now, war arose in Heaven. Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon and the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated and there was no longer any place for them in Heaven and the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the Earth and his angels were thrown down with him and I heard a loud voice in Heaven saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down who accuses them day and night before our God and they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives, even unto death.” Therefore, rejoice, O Heavens and you who dwell in them, but woe to you, O Earth and sea for the devil has come down to you in great wrath because he knows that his time is short.
– Revelation 12:7–12
I want to read that whole passage and pray according to this whole passage because this point is crystal clear. Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He wants to tempt and steal from you, steal life from you. He wants to destroy you today. But he will one day be totally thrown down, completely conquered and his time in this world is short. So run from his temptations today and believe in the power of Christ in you to overcome those temptations. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.
Revelation 12:7–12 reminds us that God is going to rescue us from all suffering and sin.
Be faithful to follow Jesus today. Flee from all sin and temptation amidst suffering hardship and challenges in this world. Do not give into the lie, the deception of the enemy that God doesn’t love you… That God doesn’t care about you, that God isn’t with you, that God isn’t for you. God is with you. The Lord is for you. God does love you. The Lord cares about you so much and God is going to bring you home to himself. God is going to fully and finally rescue you from all suffering and all sin. So hold on to hope in him.
The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ will fully and finally come. Satan and all of his demons will be totally thrown down. Sin and suffering and death will be no more. Hold on. Today and every day hold on to hope and fight the good fight against sin and temptation.
Revelation 12:7–12 encourages us to hold fast to God’s promises.
Even the language here about those who have conquered Satan do so by the blood of the Lamb. By the blood of Jesus and its power in our lives and by the word of our testimony. By faithful testimony to the truth of God. And by faithfully holding on to God’s truth and proclaiming God’s truth all the way to death. Oh God, we pray that that would be the story of each of our lives. That each of us would hold fast to your truth until the day we die. And not just hold fast to it in our lives, but to proclaim it. God, we pray that over our lives today.
Help us to hold fast to your truth and not believe any of the lies, any of the deception, any of the accusations from the adversary. God, help us today to run from all of his temptations to sin, to turn from you, to not trust in you. Help us to follow you faithfully today and not just to follow you, but to lead others to follow you, to lead others away from his lies.
God, help us to share the truth about the love of Jesus for other people today in anticipation of the day when what we just read in Revelation 12:7–12 will be sight. Oh God, help us to realize this is coming soon, very soon. His time is short and oh God, I think about Jesus’ words to us in Matthew 24. This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed as a testimony to all the nations and then the end will come.
Prayer for the Kaman People
I think about how Satan knows that when all the nations have heard and received the gospel, the end will come and he doesn’t want that end to come and he is doing everything he can to keep all the nations from hearing and receiving the gospel. So we pray in spiritual battle right now for the Kaman people of Myanmar, God for this small people group that’s unreached by the gospel. Cause them to hear and receive the gospel we pray. We pray for the spread of the gospel to the Kaman people and every other people group in the world that doesn’t yet have the gospel so that Revelation 5, and Revelation 7 might be reality and all the nations, tribes and peoples gather around your throne and sing your praises. Oh God, bring about that end. We pray all of this according to your Word in Revelation 12:7–12 in Jesus’ name, in the name of the Lamb who has conquered sin and death. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
