And he said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘I will make this dry streambed full of pools.’ For thus says the Lord, ‘You shall not see wind or rain, but that streamed shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, you, your livestock, and your animals.’ This is a light thing in the side of the Lord. He will also give the Moabites into your hand.”
-2 Kings 3:16–18
I’ll just pause there. Did you hear that phrase? Well, let me give the setup. So here in this passage, God is miraculously providing water for all these soldiers in the middle of a dry land. And not just for them, but for their livestock, their animals. And he’s promising deliverance in the battle they’re going into with the Moabites. And right in the middle of it, did you hear that phrase in verse 18? The Bible says, “This is a light thing in the sight of the Lord.”
Nothing is too heavy for God when it comes to providing for His people and accomplishing His purposes.
For God to miraculously provide water in a dry land, that’s easy, that’s a light thing. For God to provide deliverance in battle, that’s a light thing to God. In other words, nothing is too heavy for God when it comes to providing for His people and accomplishing His purposes. Can I say that again? Nothing is too heavy for God when it comes to providing for His people and accomplishing His purposes. And this should lead us to pray with faith. When we pray, let’s remember who we’re praying to. It’s a light thing for God to do miraculous things.
So God help us, we pray, to pray with faith. I think about people right now who are asking for big things in their lives, in their families, their churches, in the world. For hard things, for things that seem impossible. I think about praying just a few minutes ago with a couple of brothers in Christ. And we were just asking for you to do the supernatural. To do that which seems impossible.
God, help us, teach us, lead us to pray these kinds of prayers with faith, with trust in you. God, help us to realize who you are. The omnipotent God who works miracles, for whom miracles are light things. That which we think is heavy, miraculous, is a light thing to you who has authority over all things.
So God we ask right now, and maybe just in your own heart, what big things are you asking for? What are you asking God to do that seems impossible? And would you just ask for that specifically from Him? Even as this podcast episode comes to a close, would you just ask specifically, “God, do this.” God, we just want to lay these things before you right now. These things that are on our minds and our hearts that seem impossible right now. Salvation of family members we’ve been praying or for a long time, God, we ask, “Do it.” We pray, “Save them.”
For friends we’ve been praying for, coworkers we’ve been praying for. God, for your provision in this way or that way, for this person or that person, in our own lives. God, for your help in supernatural ways in our families and our churches. God, when we pray on this podcast for unreached people, it sure feels like asking for big things. For the Socotran people of the UAE to come to know you when there’s no followers of Jesus among the Socotran. God, we ask right now that you would show your power among the Socotran, and you would draw them to yourself. In the UAE and other countries where they live.
God, we ask you for what seems like heavy things in our eyes, but we know are light things in your hands. And we praise you for the privilege of prayer by which we can come to you, the God who has all power to do all things, according to your perfect will. We ask for your supernatural provision and for the supernatural accomplishment of your purposes. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
