God is Our Hope (Jeremiah 14:22)

“Are there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain or can the heavens give showers? Are you not He, oh Lord our God, we set our hope on you for you do all these things.”
– Jeremiah 14:22

Oh, what a great phrase. We set our hope on you. Why? Well, another phrase, “For you do all these things.” What good news for you and me today, amidst whatever is going on in our lives, all the ways we need provision from God, that’s the picture here in Jeremiah 14:22. They’re needing showers from heaven, they’re needing rain from the sky and they are looking to God saying, “We have no other source of hope than you. We set our hope on you.” And that is true in your life and in my life today. Our only hope is God, is his provision, his grace, his help, amidst whatever we’re walking through in our lives.

And think about challenges that I’m walking through in life and family or work. You have challenges in your life, in your family, your work. Your only hope is God. Your only hope is the one who can do all things, who can provide in every way we need. He is our hope and He promises to give us what we need when we look to him, that’s the picture here. God promises to provide for his people as the Lord their God, when they set their hope on him, when they don’t turn aside from him. So we pray.

Jeremiah 14:22 Reminds Us God is Our Hope

“God, you are our hope today. You are our only hope. You are our hope for everything we need today. And so I pray for every single person listening to this right now, amidst, whatever they’re walking through, that they would see you as their hope and set all their hope on you. And on your power to do all things, your provision, to provide all the things we need according to your glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

We praise you for Philippians 4:19. “My God will supply all your needs. According to the glories of riches in Christ, Jesus.” God, I pray that over every single person listening to this right now. They would know this, that they would set their hope on you and your promises to provide. And God, we pray that you would help us to point others to you today, to encourage others in our families and our spheres of influence, wherever you lead us today, help us to point others to the provision that’s found in you. And God. We pray for people around the world who don’t know the hope that’s found in you, don’t know the hope that’s found in Jesus.

Praying for the Northern Iraq Arabs

We pray specifically today for Northern Iraq Arabs in Iraq, over 9 million of them. So few of them have access to the gospel. So few of them know the hope that’s found in Jesus. God, we pray for Northern Iraqi Arabs to hear the hope of Jesus. We pray that you would send more and more laborers to Iraq for the spread of the gospel, that you would build up and strengthen our brothers and sisters there. God, we pray, we intercede today for the spread of your hope in Iraq and specifically among the Northern Iraqi Arabs there. Oh God, we set our hope on you, for you can do all things. For you alone can save, you alone can satisfy, and you alone provide all that we need.

You are He, the Lord, our God who can bring rain, who can cause showers to flow from the heavens and can provide everything that your people need. That all who trust in you need. We love you God. We praise you for the hope we have in you, according to Jeremiah 14:22. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
