“And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, ‘Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God, and they have conquered him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.'”
– Revelation 12:10–11
There’s coming a day when our accuser will be thrown down and silenced, and we will stand on the merit of the blood of Jesus.
This picture, it’s really twofold. It’s a picture of Satan, the devil being thrown down along with all of his demons, our accuser, and it’s a picture of victory and triumph for all those who have trusted in the blood of Christ and proclaimed the Gospel of Christ. You think about both of those pictures in our lives. One, the devil, the Satan, the accuser who is constantly accusing us, causing guilt and shame and fear to mark even our relationships with God in our lives, just reminding us of all that we have done wrong. Reminding us of the shame of our sin. Causing us, in an unhealthy way, to think about that sin, when Jesus, his blood, has covered over our sin.
Revelation 12:10–11 Reminds Us of Jesus’ Sacrifice
We have conquered. We’ve conquered by His blood, by the blood of the lamb, and there’s coming a day when our accuser will be thrown down totally. He will be silenced, and we will stand. Not on our own merit, but on the merit of the blood of Jesus. Remember that today, when you think about sin in your past, when you think about the shame of sin, when you think about how you have sinned against God to know that the accuser has been silenced. That he has nothing to accuse you of because your sin has been covered by the blood of Jesus. That is an awesome thought.
Then that second picture that conquered by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, like, if this is true, if we have sin covered by the blood of Christ, then we need to proclaim this to other people. We need to make this Gospel known so that other people might have their sin covered by the blood of Christ. Let’s pray today for specific people.
Revelation 12:10-11 Leads Us to Pray for Others to Know Christ
Let’s pray and during my time with the Lord this morning, God I pray for these specific people in my life that I’m going to be around today, and God, I pray that you would help me to have boldness to share the Gospel with them. I pray that people this week would come to know your grace, the blood of Christ covering over their sin through my life. Let’s proclaim that knowing that’s not easy. I mean, the whole pictures, they love not their lives, even unto death.
Let’s give our lives, even unto death, making this Gospel known. May this drive us in our lives. We pray, God help us. God help us, we need your grace. We need your mercy, we praise you Lord Jesus for your grace, for your mercy. We praise you. The accuser, will one day be thrown down. He will be totally silenced, that we will be standing, not because we are sinless in and of ourselves, but because you have covered over our sin by your blood, that you have made us righteous in your sight.
God, Please Give Us Courage
Oh God, we stand in this and we would pray that you would help us to stand speaking. Revelation 12:10–11 is a beautiful picture. Help us not to be silent. God, we pray that you would use us to make this good news known. God, may there be more people whose sin is covered by your blood as a result of our lives. Of our lips speaking this Gospel. Oh God, we long for the day when the devil will be thrown down and we will stand. We pray before you. As those who have conquered by the blood of the lamb, by the word of our testimony. For we loved not our lives, even unto death. May it be so, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
