A Great Multitude from Every Nation (Revelation 7:9–10)

“After this, I looked and behold great multitude that no one could number from every nation, from all tribes, and peoples and languages standing before the throne and before the lamb clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the lamb.”
– Revelation 7:9–10

One day a great multitude from every nation will give praise to God and to the Lamb for their salvation.

This vision in Revelation 7:9–10 is awesome. Every nation, all tribes, peoples and language just like Revelation 5:9 had talked about. Here’s the fulfillment of that vision. Jesus has purchased people for God, ransomed people for God from every nation, tribe, tongue and people. So, that’s what we got here, Revelation 7:9–10 gives a picture of every nation, all tribes, all people’s languages gather around the throne of God and the lamb, singing praises for the salvation he has brought to them.

Revelation 7:9–10 Tells Us to Make Disciples

So, we know what Jesus commanded us to do in the great commission. Go and make disciples of all nations, will one day be fulfilled. The disciples will be made among all the nations, among all the people of the earth, among all the languages of the earth. When we are giving our lives and our families, and our churches to The Great Commission, we are giving our lives, our families, our churches to something we know is going to happen.

Lord, we know the end of the story. We know where all of this is headed, so we go with confidence. We give our lives to this with confidence. Lord, we pray and we give, and we send missionaries, and we go on mission trips. We do all of this in our lives knowing that it’s going to happen. I’m praying today for the people in Bhutan, just a few thousand of them live in a remote area of the word, very remote, in Bhutan where there is very little access to the gospel.

Revelation 7:9–10 Reminds Us of Eternity

The reality is, though, there is coming a day when people from the Lhopku are going to be gathered around the throne of God, singing praises for the salvation he’s brought. Every people group in Bhutan, for that matter, is going to be represented around this throne. So, we pray toward that end. God has called us to pray toward that end. May our praying on a daily basis involve praying for those to spread the gospel to people who’ve never heard it, to people groups, to tribes, languages that have not been reached with the gospel.

Let’s give … and our churches, that in, so that the Bible … it hasn’t been translated in some of the languages, would be translated into those languages so that missionaries would go and take the gospel to them and that we, and our lives, would be open to the possibility God may be calling us to go to the Lhopku in Bhutan, or all kinds of other people groups, whether it’s short-term or longer commitments of our lives. We pray. God, we look forward to this day. Revelation 7:9–10.

Revelation 7:9–10 Prays for the Spread of the Gospel

When this multitude that nobody can even count from every nation, tribe, telling him, “People are going to gather around your throne and sing your praises.” What an awesome day that is going to be. We can’t wait for that day and for that song. The day with all these different tribes and languages giving you glory for eternity. So, we pray, God use our lives, our families, our churches, to bring about that day.

God, we pray, use us for the spread of the gospel to every nation, tribe, tongue, people. We pray for the spread of the gospel specifically to the Lhopku of Bhutan, to all kinds of people groups in Bhutan, the small country of its remote people groups right now have little access to the gospel. God, we pray that you would break down barriers that are keeping the gospel from going through these people groups.

We Pray for the Fulfillment of the Great Commission

God, we pray that you would give your church resolve to work. We pray that the church would be led to give our lives. Lord, even when it costs to giving the gospel to them. And not just in Bhutan, but all over the world. God, please use us to bring about the fulfillment of The Great Commission, the fulfillment of this picture promise in Revelation 7:9–10. God, we pray for the spread of your salvation to every people, tribe, language, nation on the earth. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
