What Kind of Love Is This?

God’s love is surprising because He doesn’t need to love us. In Himself, God has no need to love us. The Father is perfectly satisfied in the Son. (John 3:35; 5:20). The Son is completely devoted to the Father. (John 14:30-31). Yet, in His goodness, God does love us.

  1. God’s love is surprising because he doesn’t need to love us.
  2. God’s love is surprising because we don’t deserve his love.
  3. God’s love is surpassing because he gives his only Son.
  4. God’s love is surpassing because he gives His only Son as our substitute.
