Unengaged, Unreached – The Mahisyadas of India

More than 1.2 billion people live in the country of India. The Mahisyadas are just one of the many people groups in India. They are our prayer focus for Secret Church 16: A Global Gospel in a World of Religions.

Out of the 1,469 people groups in India, we consider 477 unengaged and unreached with the gospel. This means they might live and die without ever hearing the name of Jesus.

Take Action

Something must be done. You can be a part of these people hearing the good news of Jesus Christ for the first time. Leading up to Secret Church 16, we will share about these unengaged, unreached people groups who need to hear the gospel. Take time to read about these people. Use the prayer requests to intercede on their behalf. Share this information with others and get them to pray.

Will you stand in the gap and pray for those who have yet to hear of our Savior?

The Mahisyadas of India

The Mahisyadas are a people group of about 158,000. They live mostly in the East Indian state of Tripura, which borders Bangladesh. The hilly, forested area where they typically live has heavy rainfall. This makes the group often hard to find. Mahisyadas either work in farming or as fishers. They speak Bengali and use the Bengali script for writing.

Like many in India, the Mahisyadas are primarily Hindu. They worship millions of gods and bow before idols of gold and silver. Currently, there is no one actively seeking to share the gospel and plant churches among the Mahisyadas.

Pray for the Lord to send laborers who speak Bengali to share the gospel with the Mahisyadas. Also, pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare the hearts of the Mahisyadas to receive the gospel and for churches to be planted among them.

Radical’s Secret Church is a unique, one-night event that is streamed online to more than 50,000 participants around the world.

LESS THAN 1% OF ALL MONEY GIVEN TO MISSIONS GOES TO UNREACHED PEOPLE AND PLACES.

That means that the people with the most urgent spiritual and physical needs on the planet are receiving the least amount of support. Together we can change that!
