How to Pray
Though Chistians from Muslim backgrounds are the most persecuted in Iran, those living in dense populations are able to pursue their new-found faith with some level of anonymity. Thankfully, because many Iranian Muslims are nominal followers, some new Christians are actually accepted by their families. Underground church leaders and members are vulnerable and subject to imprisonment if discovered. Their meetings are considered “crimes against national security.” (Source: Open Doors)

Pray for opportunities for Christians to share their faith with their nominally Muslim family members.

Pray for the safety and protection of Christians in Iran. Christians in Iran face a great deal of persecution, including imprisonment and torture. Pray that God would protect them from harm and give them the strength to persevere. Pray for imprisoned Christians to be encouraged in their faith as they wait to be released.

Despite the persecution, the church in Iran is growing. Pray that God would continue to grow the church and bring more people to faith in Jesus Christ.

Pray for Christians to have the courage to gather in local churches.

Pray for the theological health of the church in Iran. There are many teaching and spreading theologically dangerous ideas.

Pray that Armenian and Syrian Christians, who are allowed to practice their faith in their own country, would have the courage to share their faith with their Muslim neighbors even though it’s unlawful to do so.

Underground church leaders must make many difficult decisions in a very challenging environment. Pray that God would give them wisdom and guidance as they lead their churches.
Unreached people groups live in areas where Christ is unknown and there is little to no local church presence.
Bring good news to those who have never heard.
