Unengaged, Unreached – The Bania of India

More than 1.2 billion people live country of India, our prayer focus for Secret Church 16: A Global Gospel in a World of Religions. These 1.2 billion make up 1,469 different people groups with their own cultures and many with their own distinct language.

Out of the people groups in India, 1,245 are labeled as unreached, meaning that there are less than two percent who follow Jesus Christ. Still more overwhelming are the 477 people groups in India who are unengaged and unreached. This means that not only do less than two percent of people follow Christ, no one is actively trying to reach these groups with the gospel.

People in these 477 groups may be born, live, and die without ever hearing the name of Jesus.

Something must be done. You can be a part of these people hearing the good news of Jesus Christ for the first time. In the weeks leading up to Secret Church 16, we will share about a few of these unengaged, unreached people groups who need to hear the gospel. Take time to read about these people, use the prayer requests to intercede on their behalf, share this information with others and get them to pray.

Join with us to learn more about the billions of souls in India searching for peace. How can you stand in the gap for those who have yet to hear of our Savior?

The Bania (Magahi) of India

The Magahi-speaking Bania are known for their success in business. As respected people in society, the Bania value education and modern technology. Many Bania children have the opportunity to go to college and look towards a successful future in business. With a population of 654,000, the Bania are mostly Hindu, worshipping over 300 million gods.

Pray for the Bania people group to see that there is only one God and one Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pray for Indian Christians who speak the Magahi language to boldly share the gospel with the Bania people group.

Pray for college students from the Bania people group to be exposed to the gospel as they travel to other countries for their education. Pray for them to bring the gospel back to their people.

Less than 1% of all money given to missions goes to unreached people and places.*

That means that the people with the most urgent spiritual and physical needs on the planet are receiving the least amount of support. Let's change that!
