Revelation chapter 15:3, “And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb saying, Great and amazing are your deeds, oh Lord God the Almighty. Just and true are your ways, oh King of the nations.” One of the things I love about the book of Revelation and this book specifically is that there’s times where we see a new song being sung in heaven, but there’s time like this in Revelation 15:3 where we see an old song being sung.
Revelation 15 actually goes all the way back to Exodus chapter 15. After God delivered his people out of slavery in Egypt, then brought them through the Red Sea and brought the sea crashing down on the Egyptians, Moses sang a song. That’s what this song in Revelation 15 is based on, as people are singing now not just the song of Moses from Exodus 15 but the song of the Lamb crying out, “Great and amazing are your deed, oh Lord God the Almighty.” Just as Moses looked back at what God had done in delivering his people out of slavery in Egypt and through the Red Sea and said, “Great and amazing are your deeds, oh God.” Then at the end of all of history in the world we’re going to look back and see, “Great and amazing are the deeds of God. He is almighty.”

God’s people will forever praise Him for His great and awesome deeds.

I just want to encourage you to sing this song today in your life, to look back or even around you in the present and just praise God for how great and amazing his deeds are. This is a good practice for us. This is a song that’s been sung for thousands of years, will be sung in the future for thousands of years, for all of eternity, so apparently the lyrics of this song are going to stick. Let’s sing it today. Let’s learn it today.
Let’s pray. Oh, Lord, God the Almighty, great and amazing are your deeds. As we pray this, I would just encourage you right now, just think about all the deeds of God in your life, in your family that you can praise him for, in your church, in the world around you. What are the deeds of God that come to your mind when you just think, “God, this is great. This is amazing what you have done here, what you have done there.” Oh, God, we think about all kinds of things in our lives, and our families, and our churches, and the world around us. God, we see your might, your greatness. You are amazing. All the deeds you’ve done, the way you have brought about salvation, the way you’ve blessed, the way you’ve led, the way you’ve guided, the way you’ve protected, the way you’ve helped up in this circumstance, that circumstance, the way you’ve carried us through this suffering and that suffering. The way you’ve enabled us to endure amidst this trial and this temptation, the way you have shown yourself faithful to us, loving to us, caring for us. Great and amazing are your deeds, oh Lord God the Almighty. We praise you for your deeds.
Even as I say amen in a minute, I just want to encourage you when this podcast is over, like just keep thinking about the amazing, great deeds of God in your life. God, we praise you for all these things and we look forward to an eternity of praising you for all these things. Help us to live lives just daily thanking you and praising you like Revelation 15:3 calls us to. In Jesus’ name we praise you, amen.
